My Hair Journey

08/29/2010
November 2009.
That is the month that I decided it was time to "reclaim my roots" (the roots of my hair as well as the roots of my being). I chose to stop using chemical treatments to straighten my hair and discover what my natural hair actually looked like. I say discover because I can honstly say I really don't know my natural hair textre or type. My hair has been chemically treated in some way, shape, or form since I was seven years old. I will admit that I was under the impression that without the chemicals my hair was "bad" and unmanagable. Well, here we are, 9 months later, and my eyes are opened wide!!! I transitioned for six months, meaning that I allowed my hair to grow while still retaining my relaxed hair. At the end of 6 months, May 20, 2010 to be exact, I did the "Big Chop", which means that I cut all of the relaxed hair from head. It has been three months now, and I couldn't be happier!! My hair has a personality all it's own. I think it is still a work in progress, but I am enjoying this journey!! Check out my videos and pictures to really see how far I've come.
